Surgical Assisting Graduate Certificate

Through our guided training curriculum, the EVMS Surgical Assisting certificate program is designed to deliver candidates an approved curriculum. This 12-month program will start in May each year and be offered online. Students will be required to complete didactic and clinical content requirements. The program will pair students with educational liaisons to support their success in completion of the program.

Eligible candidates must be currently employed in the operating room and must have two years of work experience.These individuals include certified surgical technologists, registered nurses or practicing surgical assistants.

The institution is currently seeking Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accreditation.

As states continue to enact greater legislation requirements for the practice of surgical assisting, the goal of the EVMS Certificate of Surgical Assisting program is to assist current professionals and those seeking to enter the profession a training avenue that meets the changing requirements of the professional.
